Peroon reduces cost of
Symbian OS™ multi-platform application development and increases application
development productivity
Or-Yehuda, Israel
– December 14, 2004, 2004.
Peroon, a leading provider of mobile porting products and solutions, today
announced the availability of its S2U porting solution for Symbian OS, the
leading operating system for smartphones. S2U enables automatic porting of
Nokia Series 60 C++ applications to UIQ and is available free of charge on
www.symbian.com/developer/tools.html
S2U is an add-on to the standard UIQ 2.1 SDKs
which enables Nokia Series 60 v1.x native AVKON based C++ applications to be
built, and executed as native UIQ v2.0/2.1 applications using the standard
UIQ build procedure. The ultimate result is that a Symbian OS applications
developer can use a single application code base on both the Nokia Series 60
and UIQ platforms, whilst substantially reducing the total cost of
multi-platform application development, shortening development cycles and
increasing productivity.
Anatoly Kardash, CTO, Peroon said, “S2U
substitutes the re-coding of major application components when porting from
Series 60 to UIQ and therefore greatly reduces efforts and the complexity
sometimes involved in the porting process.”
Ian Weston, VP Partner Support, Symbian, said,
“S2U marks an important milestone in our vision of enabling a single Symbian
C++ code base to natively support multiple Symbian OS UI platforms.
Peroon’s S2U will help reduce costs for Symbian OS applications developers
and enable them to increase productivity and revenue.”
In Q1 of 2005, Peroon plans to launch
additional automatic Symbian OS porting tools which will support UIQ 3.0.
