Peroon joins Symbian Platinum Partner Program to enable native multi-platform support for Symbian OS
Or-Yehuda, Israel, April 29, 2003 - Peroon R&D Ltd., a leading provider of mobile porting technologies and multi-platform development, announced today that it has become a Symbian Platinum Partner.
Symbian becomes the first mobile operating system to naturally support native multi-platform development using Peroon's innovative E2W technology. Leveraging the advanced development environment of Symbian OS™ APIs, developers can target simultaneously dozens of devices while still working with a single C++ source code base.
As a Platinum Partner, Peroon is extending its multi-platform solutions to the Symbian ecosystem. Symbian develops and licenses Symbian OS, the global industry standard operating system for advanced mobile phones, to the world's leading handset manufacturers, which account for over 80 per cent of worldwide mobile phone sales. By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, Peroon ensures the natural fit of its solutions with Symbian OS, providing best-of-breed multiplatform capabilities for Symbian licensees who are looking to "develop once and deploy many".
"This partnership reflects our commitment to the Symbian developers market and our intent to standardize native mobile multi-platform development," said Dan Amir, CEO of Peroon. "By becoming a Symbian Platinum Partner, we can further expand our multi-platform solutions and strengthen our relationships with application developers, device manufacturers and carriers. We are excited to be part of a fast-moving industry that is generating increasing support for Symbian OS and driving demand for advanced mobile phone features that will dramatically improve the usability of wireless devices."
"Peroon's E2W, available only on Symbian, offers a unique advantage to Symbian OS C++ developers," said Martin Coul, Technology Partner Program Director, Symbian. "We are pleased to have Peroon join the Symbian Platinum Program and bring their E2W technology to the flourishing Symbian ecosystem".
"Multi-Platform is a core requirement in mobile computing development," said Anatoly Kardash, CTO and co-founder of Peroon. "Currently, programming for Smartphones is predominantly achieved through the use of platform-specific libraries and API sets. This has severe consequences and is a great setback for mobile computing development since source code has to be rewritten for every device. Using a single source code approach, the industry can realize the full potential of different Smartphones entering the market."
The Symbian Platinum Program includes companies that have a technology or strategic position that is key to the success of mobile computing technology surrounding Symbian OS. As part of the program, Platinum Partners benefit from a range of commercial services, including technical support and joint marketing opportunities as well as privileged access to Symbian OS source code and a dedicated Partner Support team.
